The Medieval Times Field Trip

Some of our students participated in a field trip to Medieval Times last week. It was a great culmination of what they’d learned about this time period in history. One of the students even got to be crowned queen because our seating section’s knight won the battle.

K/1 Class Reads with Buddies and Learns About Wisconsin

Kindergarten and first graders read with their 6th/7th-grade buddies this week and learned about Wisconsin and making cheese.

Deep Faith Is Active Faith: Jesus Calms the Storm

Our K-5 students participated in an active faith exercise for devotions this week while learning about the importance of Jesus calming the storm from the Jesus Storybook Bible. (Parents, you can always check the top of your lesson plan portal to access the videos on which our K-5 devotions are based.)

Students created quite the “storm” with the parachute, and the boat (the red ball) was tossed to and fro until Jesus commanded the storm to be still.

K-5 Students Have Fun Making Valentine’s Day Crafts

What do you do on a rainy, cold day? You stay inside and make Valentine’s Day crafts while learning about the unending love of God.

6th & 7th Graders Study Genetics and Make Tater Babies

Students learned about dominant and recessive genes that are passed from parents to offspring. They charted dominant and recessive genes from parents, and then they made model potato babies of what those offspring would look like. What a fun way to learn about genetics!

8th Graders Discuss Important Events in Georgia History

When students can have conversations about a subject and engage with each other about what they are learning, we call that a “win” at Learnwell. Our Georgia History students, all in 8th grade, are doing just that.

2nd Graders Host a Published Author, a Mystery Reader, and a Queen

These second-grade students enjoy reading, listening, and playing “stories.” This week they hosted a published author, a mystery reader, and a queen.

  • One of the students is now a published author. While eating lunch, she did a reading of her book and showed it to her classmates. Called “My Lost Family,” the book is about a little dog who thinks her family is lost, but really, the family just stepped out for the afternoon.

  • The class also got a visit from one student’s mom who, as the Mystery Reader, read an Amelia Bedelia classic.

  • Imagination is never in short supply in 2nd grade, as evidenced by a playground queen wearing a “coat of many colors.”
