6th-7th Graders Give Back and Enjoy Team-Building Games

Before Christmas, our 6th and 7th-grade life skills class decided that they wanted to give back to an organization that serves the local community. They chose Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. Last week, they had the opportunity to present the funds and gifts they purchased for the patients in the Alpharetta Radiology Center. The students were also featured in City Lifestyle Alpharetta Magazine. Way to go, 6th and 7th graders! If you want to share the City Lifestyle link with friends and family, share https://citylifestyle.com/alpharetta/issues/2023-02. The Learnwell students are on page 14.

These classes also enjoyed some team-building games in Mrs. Hyland’s life skills class.

K-1st & 6th-7th Classes Make Valentines

Our K-1 and 6-7 Buddies joined together this week to make Valentine’s Day cards.

K-5th Learn Who Jesus Is in Morning Devotions

On Tuesday this week, students played a game where they listened to clues and had to guess which student was “it” simply by the clues they gave. Similarly, they learned that Jesus gave clues about who He was through the things He did and said in the Bible. And on Thursday, they learned why it matters who Jesus is — because His promises can be trusted. In Matthew 6:26-30, Jesus promised that God is trustworthy, and we needn’t worry about anything.

He said, “Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.”

Students learned how to make origami flowers to remind them that God will take care of whatever concerns them.

4th-5th Grade Grammar Hunt and Comprehension Flip Books

Our 4th and 5th graders learned about similes and metaphors in grammar this week, solidifying what they learned in a Valentine’s metaphor hunt. They also made flip books for comprehension since they are reading C.S. Lewis’ The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe.

2nd Graders Practice Story-Building

To prepare for writing assignments, students in Mrs. Charlene’s class completed brainstorming charts for the characters in their stories.

Chickens Visit Learnwell to Help Students Learn Genetics

A few young chicks visited the Learnwell playground this week to help them understand genetics.

Middle schoolers enjoy time together over lunch and after school

Our middle schoolers are such a fun group. They got to enjoy a little extra time together this week for AFT, our monthly after-school hangout time for middle schoolers.
