Biology Students Examine Plants and Flowers

Eighth and ninth grade biology students continue to study the cell formation of plants and animals. This week, they examined the parts of a flower and leaves from local trees.

Buddies Play Freeze Tag in K/1st and 6th/7th Grade

Starting the day with freeze tag? Yes! We’re in! Our Buddies program continues to benefit both our middle school students and our kindergarten and first-grade classes.

First and Second Grade Reading & Writing Activities

Our first graders are on a roll learning all about writing, punctuation and continuing a love of reading. The last few weeks, they’ve had multiple Mystery Readers visit their class, they took part in author readings, and they learned about punctuation with pasta. Second graders hosted a Readers’ Theater this week.

Spelling Around the World in 2nd/3rd Grade

Second and third-graders took part in spelling around the world while practicing for their spelling test this week.

Final Club Day of the Year

Our final Club Day of the year hosted 5 student-led clubs: Dance Party, Cookie Club, Football Club, Slime Club, and Karate Club.

K-5th Graders Learn God Can Bring Good from Anything

While continuing their study of God’s promises, our K-5th grade students learned this week that God can bring good from anything. Based on Romans 8:28, Mrs. Cori shared that not all things that happen in life would be “good” by human definition. But that God, because of His goodness and love, can bring something good out of everything. Students explored Naman’s healing testimony to illustrate the concept, and they got to experience what Naman’s leprosy may have felt like by painting their skin with mashed potatoes.

Fun Friday: Animal Day Was a Huge Hit

Our last Fun Friday of the school year took place on April 12th. Animal Day at Sawnee Mountain was a huge hit. Students learned about reptiles and other animals in our local region.

Outdoor Lunch & Recess Games

Students of all grade levels enjoyed our unseasonably warm weather this week by having lunch outside and playing recess games. Teachers also enjoyed sitting together at outdoor lunch.
