World Down Syndrome Day

March 21 was #worlddownsyndromeday, and one of our students helped others learn about Down Syndrome by bringing in some cozy awareness for classmates to “try on” — fun socks! The bunches of chromosomes that help explain Down Syndrome are like the bright, colorful socks students were given today.

Walk for Water Updates

You guys rocked it!!

Students, not only did you reach your first goal — repairing one well in South Sudan — by raising $1,000, but then you reached a second goal and raised over $2,000 to repair two wells in South Sudan! Check the latest totals here, and continue to raise money if you’d like; all donations are due by 3/31.

Below, you can see a few messages from the Water Is Basic team in South Sudan; they — and all of us here at Learnwell — are SO proud of the students.

Thank you for your generosity.

4th and 5th Graders Explore Complex Rectangular Shapes

Our 4th and 5th graders have been learning about measuring the area of complex rectangular shapes this week.

K-2nd Paint and Plant in the Learnwell Garden and K/1 Gets a Visit from a Mystery Reader

Our kindergarten and first-grade classes got to paint river rocks for the garden and do some of our first plantings this week. (Other classes will be planting in the next few weeks.)

Building Bridges Like DaVinci in K-5

Our K-7 students are learning about the Renaissance period in history, so they’re studying artists like DaVinci. This week, students in kindergarten through 5th grade got to try their hand at a very challenging task — building bridges without any adhesives.
