Week 14: Working Together

“Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain uncommon results.”

– Andrew Carnegie

K/1 and 6th/7th Grade Buddies Work Together on a Scavenger Hunt

We love our K/1 and 6th/7th grade Buddies program. It’s so sweet to watch them form friendships.

K-5 Students Learn About Advent

Because we don’t have the time to celebrate Advent in its entirety each week (we’ve only got one and a half weeks left before Christmas break), Mrs. Cori is speeding up the timeline a little bit to teach our K-5 students what Advent is and how its significance reflects the character and heart of God.

5th Graders Work on Compare/Contrast Writing & Practice Multiplying and Dividing Decimals Together

The fifth-grade class works so well together. This week, they worked on compare/contrast mapping for a writing assignment, and they practiced multiplying and dividing decimals together.

8th Graders Learn About Exercise’s Impact on the Brain in Life Skills

Our 8th-grade life skills class learned that exercise has a major influence on our brain’s ability to create brain links while learning. To illustrate this, some students tried to do schoolwork while others distracted them and then they had to get up and do short bursts of exercise to get their brains back on track. What a fun way to learn about the fascinating way God made our minds function.

9th Graders Deepen Understanding About Personal Discipline in Life Skills

The ninth graders built bridges in life skills to illustrate how personal discipline can get us from where we are to where we want to go — one “brick” at a time.

Freshman Focus Week Hosts 8th/9th Graders for Lunch-and-Learns about High School

This week was Freshman Focus Week for students in 8th and 9th grade. On Tuesday and Thursday, they heard personal stories from many of their teachers about what post-high school looked like in each of their lives. They also learned about the future of high school at Learnwell. Dr. Shipman shared about the plans for AP classes, honors classes, fun off-campus privileges and trips, and the opportunities to connect with others at after-school activities. Students were given Class of 2027 and Class of 2028 shirts, and they enjoyed Moe’s for lunch on Thursday. It’s an exciting time in the life of Learnwell — building high school TOGETHER one grade at a time.

6th Graders Read Personal Narratives Aloud in ELA, 7th Graders Recite “Christmas Tide” by Cristina Rossetti

Our sixth-grade class is so supportive of each other that after they read their personal narratives, it was group hug time! And the 7th graders celebrated their recitations of “Christmas Tide” by Cristina Rossetti.

6th & 7th Graders Learn About Faithfulness by Studying Hosea in the OT

Learning about God’s faithfulness to us is portrayed beautifully through the story of Hosea in the Old Testament.

3rd-5th Graders Learn About London Plagues and Fires in Mid-1600s

Learning about the plagues and fires of London together.

REACH Crew Stays Fit Together

Our REACH Workshop — about fitness — was a huge hit. Students learned stretches and exercises they can do at home both indoors and outdoors. They also played an active game of Tic Tac Toe and ended the workshop with a rousing game of Capture the Flag. Fun was had by all!
