Tech & Engineering Expo

Our Tech & Engineering Expo last week was fascinating! Learnwell students spent many weeks working together on projects in areas of technology and engineering. Many students built prototypes or presented on topics that explored environmental protection in various ways. We are so proud of the students who participated — thanks to everyone who came out to support their hard work. Way to go, students!

Fun Friday: Cooking Edition

Our Fun Friday Electives are enriching opportunities for students to explore topics of interest. This month, they took part in a cooking class at Young Chefs Academy. They made pizza pull-aparts and decorated cupcakes. Yum!

6th Graders Share Native American Presentations

Learning about U.S. history, students in sixth grade researched various Native American tribes and created projects to present in class. Several presentations involved eating native recipes using healthy ingredients such as sweet potatoes and corn.

6th/7th Buddies Help K/1 Students with Math

Our Buddies program is steady and strong; this week, our K/1 students reinforced math skills with a little help from their 6th and 7th grade friends.

8th/9th Biology Students Learn About Mitosis

Biology students explored various processes of cell division by examining mitosis with microscopes.

K-2nd Graders Make Stess Relief Balls for Health Study

Continuing the exploration of health topics, our K-2nd graders made stress relief balls and talked about healthy ways to manage difficulties and problems this week.

8th Graders Share History Projects & Visit Kennesaw Mountain

The 8th-grade class worked hard to research different inventions and important figures in American history, and then they presented their findings in very creative ways. Some recreated inventions that became precursors to modern-day tools while others built models and wrote poetry. Topics included espionage and the Civil War, the telegraph, Dorothy Dix, Abraham Lincoln and the Andersonville Prison. We’re proud of how hard you worked, 8th grade! Last week, many of these students took a field trip to see the Kennesaw Mountain to learn about its role in Georgia history.

Student Ambassadors Discuss Hospitality

Our Learnwell Student Ambassador Team met this week to talk about how to welcome new students and help parents find a friendly face at Discover Learnwell admissions events. They worked in groups to illustrate what it looks like to make someone else feel welcome.

Turkey Time in K-3rd

Our kindergarteners, first graders, second graders, and third graders all made turkeys to recognize Thanksgiving when eat a traditional meal and celebrate gratitude. The kindergarten class reimagined their turkeys to look like their favorite things. Some of the turkeys “dressed up” as Starbucks coffee drinks, Paw Patrol characters, and even a box of crayons. We have some creative kindergarteners!

4th & 5th Graders Learn About Stress Management

Our fourth and fifth graders learned about aligning your activities with your priorities, such as family, church, and school. They also got to explore the meaning of stress and how living by our priorities helps us minimize the stress in our lives. Looking at the positives, focusing on only what we can control, and remaining firm in their faith were some of the tools these students discussed. Mrs. Allison and Mrs. Stephanie shared an object lesson about priorities and then took the students outside to make stress relief balls.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, everyone! We are grateful for you.
