Week 2: Hands-On Learning

“Play is the highest form of research.”

~ Albert Einstein

This week, our students got to get their hands dirty to experience learning on many levels.

In This Issue:

  • K/1 gets messy with phonics and takes a movement break with Simon Says
  • K-5th gets “moody” in a game about God’s promises in morning devotions
  • 6th/7th makes Medieval tools of the trade
  • Middle school builds community at lunch
  • K-5th emulates Medieval carvings in clay

K/1 Gets Messy with Phonics and Plays Simon Says

They got to practice word-building with shaving cream and take a fun movement break on Tuesday!

K-5th Gets “Moody” in Morning Devotions

This Thursday, our K-5th grade learned about God’s plan to restore what’s been broken in our world. Mrs. Cori shared that when sin entered the world, so did sadness, loneliness, fear, sickness and other kinds of brokenness. Students then played Four Corners and had to run to different signs representing these experiences of brokenness that will one day pass away because of God’s restoration plan. Then, the students had to act out whichever sign their corner represented.

6th/7th Makes Medieval Tools of the Trade

Mrs. Owen’s social studies classes worked together to make Medieval axes this week.

Middle School Builds Community at Lunch

Our ever-social middle school bunch enjoyed both indoor and outdoor lunch together this week.

K-5th Emulates Medieval Carvings in Clay

In social studies Thursday, our K-5th graders studied Medieval carving images and tried to create their own versions.
