Week 28: Faith in Context

During Holy Week, students have been learning about the Christian faith within a historical context here at school. Students at all grade levels are hearing about the rise of Rome in early AD/CE as we lead into the ultimate sacrifice, Christ’s death, and the ultimate victory: Christ’s Resurrection!

In This Issue:

  • Easter Festivities – All Grades
  • Spelling and Writing Fun in 4th & 5th
  • Hands-on History – All Grades
  • Reading Activities in 2nd & 3rd

Easter Festivities

We are so grateful to our teachers this week; they have led devotional times about the life of Christ, taught students how to make a simplified version of Pysanky (Ukrainian Easter eggs), helped our students participate in a special communion to remember His sacrifice, organized a fun Easter egg hunt, and so much more. (Thank you, parents, for sending in the eggs — your students had a blast!)

And a very special “thank you” to our middle school students for hiding over 100 eggs!

Spelling and Writing Fun in 4th & 5th

We love when our students get to learn kinesthetically! Here they are painting their way through spelling and vocabulary words from the literature they’ve been reading, and they learned about adding transitions to their writing.

Hands-on History

Students at all grade levels got to participate in some hands-on history this week. K-5 students got to decorate the Star of David, and middle school students designed History Bowl questions and ate their way through Pompeii with a Georgia-grown vs. Pompeii-grown fruits and veggies buffet!

Reading Activities in 2nd & 3rd

Our 2nd & 3rd-grade classes read a fun book called Wanted! and made oversize charts to learn about story structure.
