Week 10: All the World’s a Stage

“All the world’s a stage,

And all the men and women merely players;

They have their exits and their entrances;

And one man in his time plays many parts…”

Kindergarten Pumpkin Math and Faith Lessons

Our kindergarteners learned about counting and number sense by using pumpkin seeds. They also talked about how God’s forgiveness is like the Lord ridding us of the “guts” of a pumpkin. He makes us all new when we approach Him for forgiveness.

First Grade Math Games

Our first graders had fun reinforcing some of the math skills they’ve learned this week through interactive math games.

3rd-5th Graders Get Hands-on with History and “If I Were President” Presentations

Our third, fourth, and fifth graders reenacted history using LEGOs, and they gave “If I Were President” presentations.

4th & 5th Graders Practice Storytelling in the StoryLab

Our fourth and fifth graders are in the middle of a storytelling unit, so what better way to use the StoryLab than to tell stories? It gave them practice and allowed our student StoryLab assistants to practice their studio skills.

Atlanta Embroidery Field Trip Photos

Last week, many of our students attended a field trip to Atlanta Embroidery and Screen Printing. They learned how the screen printing machines work, got to see our very own spiritwear shirts being embroidered, and they even got to try their hand at heat transfer tote bags. We’re grateful to all the hard work that the team at Atlanta Embroidery and Screen Printing put into our behind-the-scenes field trip.

6th/7th Graders Construct Giant Solar Systems

Our sixth and seventh graders worked in teams to construct four different examples of our solar system. Way to go, middle school students!

One-Act Team’s Preview Night Preparations

Our One-Act Team has their “final exam” on Oct. 30th where they compete with eight other teams for the One-Act competition. Our Learnwell community gets to see a preview of the performance Thursday night; here are a few behind-the-scenes shots of production meetings and prepping the set.

K-5 Devotional Game on the Playground

Learning about obedience to God and getting out the a.m. wiggles? Sign. Us. Up. Our K-5 students enjoyed this active devotional this week.

Author Visit: Ali Standish Talks About Imagination

Children’s author Ali Standish spoke to students in kindergarten through seventh grade this week about imagination, how she gets the ideas for her (8!) books, and what her everyday life is like. Some of her best advice was…

  • Nobody controls your imagination. While you are a kid, much of your life is controlled by others, but your imagination belongs to you.
  • Authors are always looking for treasure. Stay alert, and always be on the lookout for ideas from everyday life. Go ahead and “what-if” your plot based on what interests you about what you see in the world around you. (For example, what if this historical figure was a pirate and…)
  • Authors never stopped playing make-believe. Fuel your imagination even as you get older.
  • Adding details to our stories usually takes place in the drafting and editing process. Be patient and keep up the great work!

7th & 8th Grade Life Skills Class Explores John 15 in the Garden

What a wonderful illustration of the vine and the branches — our school garden! Our Life Skills class was able to understand John 15 at a deeper level when they took a walk in the garden.

4th & 5th Graders Make Medieval Bread and Puzzle Bar Models

Our fourth graders learned about medieval times in reading this week, so they made medieval bread. The fifth graders practiced bar models with puzzles.

Poetry Contest Winner

One of our third graders was a Top 10 winner in Creative Communication’s summer 2023 poetry contest. Way to go!

REACH Workshop Practice for the Tech & Engineering Expo

A few of our parent volunteers took turns hearing from our Tech & Engineering Expo participants this week as they prepare for their Expo on Nov. 9th. Thank you, parent volunteers!
