A Fresh Start for the School Year 🎒✏️
August always brings with it a sense of excitement (and maybe a few nerves!) as we head into a brand-new school year. Students are returning from summer break, parents are adjusting to new routines, and our community is stepping into fresh opportunities for growth and connection.

K – 2ND GRADE
Our youngest students began the year with wide eyes and excitement as they learned new routines, explored their classrooms, and got to know their teachers.

Kindergarteners had fun during center time and explored creativity with a color mixing activity. They also practiced writing their names using hieroglyphics, learning about ancient cultures in a hands-on way.

1st graders enjoyed math games, spent time learning about their friends, and had fun during reading time. They also participated in group devotionals while building community.

Our 1st & 2nd Grade Monday/Wednesday Cohort set the table to enjoy their story Jam, and even stepped back in time by creating their own cuneiform tablets. Students learned about the different parts of a book, practiced mystery spelling words, and used colorful back-to-school erasers to build math equations.

2nd graders dove into reading groups, worked on “All About Me” projects, and explored social studies by learning about pyramids and tablets. They also enjoyed planting cucumbers and getting hands-on experience with nature.

The Great Southeast Pollinator Census
K–5th graders participated in The Great Southeast Pollinator Census, spending time outside counting bees, butterflies, and other insects while learning how important pollinators are to our world.

3RD – 5TH GRADE
The elementary years started off strong as students stepped into new responsibilities and subjects.

3rd graders strengthened their multiplication and division skills. They also enjoyed reading chapter books, writing longer stories and reports, and spending time outdoors during recess.

Our 4th graders, along with some of our 5th graders in the Monday/Wednesday cohort, had a blast learning about ancient cultures by wrapping their classmates as “mummies” with toilet paper!

5th graders jumped into journaling projects, set goals for the year, and explored new math and science challenges.

6TH – 8TH GRADE
Middle school students began the year by adjusting to new schedules, undertaking challenging projects in science and social studies, and developing their leadership skills.

6th graders practiced resilience in their Life Skills and Discipleship class, learning how to apply perseverance and positive habits in everyday life. In social studies, they had fun creating with clay and worked on a hands-on project using twigs and tape to build a structure together.

7th graders creatively explored science by calculating the speed of light using chocolate and making their own galaxy art. They also focused on building resilience, learning how to grow stronger through challenges in both academics and personal growth.

8th graders learned about how the brain works and gained a deeper understanding of how we think and learn. They also enjoyed working on creative science projects that challenged their curiosity and problem-solving skills.

Bridging the Gap: Middle & High School Moments
Our middle and high school students enjoyed outings together this month, building friendships, sharing experiences, and making memories inside and outside the classroom.

9TH – 11TH GRADE
High school students are delving into more in-depth studies this year, including literature analysis, advanced math, and hands-on science labs that prepare them for future academic pursuits. They are also developing important life skills through writing essays, exploring career and college opportunities, and growing as leaders in their school community.

9th graders studied the difference between Eastern and Western worldviews, comparing how culture and perspective shape the way people think and live.
10th graders creatively explored the Beatitudes by using Play-Doh to model and reflect on each teaching.

11th graders focused on strengthening academic behaviors such as time management, organization, and study strategies.
LOOKING AHEAD TO SEPTEMBER
We’re excited for a busy month ahead filled with special events and opportunities to learn and connect. Students will enjoy field trips, celebrate with our Grandparents Tea, and take a well-deserved Fall Break. We’ll look forward to even more memorable activities throughout the month!
