It’s hard to believe, but the 2024-2025 school year has come to a close! Thank you to all the parents who partner with our teachers so well! You’ve done a great job this year, and we are excited to see you back in the fall (or in our summer camps!). Here’s a wrap-up of the last week of school.
9th & 10th Graders Present Old Testament Projects
Our ninth and tenth graders presented projects on one of the themes they learned about in the Old Testament this year in their Life Skills & Discipleship class.
Learnwell Drama Cast Wows Audience with True-Story Narrative
In last weekend’s spring production, our mighty cast and crew of “The Revlon Girl” told a nuanced true story of heartache and togetherness — with a few laughs for levity. We’re so proud of the hard work they put into not just learning lines but also learning about deep emotional themes and trying out British accents. They did a fantastic job! Yearbook Signing Time = A Flurry of Friendship
It was such a delight to watch students exchange yearbooks to sign. Many of our older students wanted their younger Buddies to sign their yearbooks, which was heartwarming and indicative of the quality character among our students. Way to go, students. You made it! First Graders Design & Play Math Board Games Together
Our first graders had a blast designing their own math-based board games and then playing them with their classmates at school.
Jeopardy Review Keeps Retention Strong in Several Grades
Several grade levels participated in jeopardy-style review games this week. Our K-3rd graders had a tie at the end of their tournament, so they all benefited from extra recess time that day!
Optional K-5th Grade Discipleship Recitation Has a Huge Turnout in the StoryLab
Our StoryLab was busy this week because so many students wanted to recite what they learned about God’s love this year in discipleship! While this was optional, many of our elementary students wanted to recite what they learned and participate in a video that will be edited by some of our high school StoryLab interns over the summer.
7th Grade Gives Awards to Novels They Read This Year
Our seventh graders in Mrs. Hyland’s class awarded the reading list with “best of” (and a few votes for worst of) novels they’ve read since last fall. We always say there’s a book out there for everyone! So, keep reading, students, until you find it.
2nd Grade Celebrates “Beach Day” with Math, Reading & Games
Our second-grade class enjoyed a pseudo-beach day in Mrs. Jessica Lewis’ class. They reviewed math skills, spent time reading, and played games throughout the day. What a way to cement these students’ deep love of learning. To celebrate even further, they ate popsicles on the playground!
4th/5th Grade Career Presentations Showcase Leadership Skills
Our fourth and fifth graders are young leaders at heart! They presented their findings about interesting careers to the second grade class earlier this week.
4th Graders Harvest Potatoes, Learn to Cook & Enjoy the Fruit of Hard Work
Our fourth graders got to see a surprisingly large harvest of potatoes since they planted them in the Learnwell garden last February. They learned one of the best ways to cook potatoes (roasting!) and enjoyed a tasting party. They also presented their projects to classmates.
Buddies Celebrate Strong Friendships
Our 7th grade Buddies are going to miss their first grade friends over the summer! They’ve grown to love this weekly opportunity to help their younger peers learn foundational skills in reading and math. This week, they read stories and had fun on the playground together.
Readers Rewarded in Mrs. Hyland’s Class
Mrs. Hyland’s students in sixth and seventh grade had the option to complete an extra outside-of-class reading challenge this spring. Those who read novels on their own time and shared about them got treated to a special lunch from Chick-fil-A. Nice job! Mrs. Hyland also gives out Paper Plate Awards every year; students enjoy seeing what superlative they receive.
6th Graders Present Most Influential People Essays
Mrs. Hyland’s sixth graders presented their essays about the most influential people in their lives.
8th Grade Element Projects
Our eighth graders did a phenomenal job on their element projects. They designed a superhero character around an element from the periodic table.
It’s Party Time!!
All of our grades enjoyed end-of-year parties for the annual tradition of celebrating a job well done. The room moms for each grade go above and beyond to make these special, too. (Thank you, room moms!)
