4th Grade Explores Mirror Spelling, Reports on “The 13 Clocks” and Solves Fractions Escape Room
Our fourth grade class has been busy academically! They’ve not only finished their presentations about the novel “The 13 Clocks,” but they also solved a fractions escape room, had fun with mirror spelling, stayed focused on the playground, acted out the Hutu tribal battles to reinforce what they’re learning in history and finished their voyage readers. What a way to head into the last two weeks of the school year!
7th Graders Present Genius Projects
The Genius Projects are a seventh-grade assignment where students learn in-depth research and critical thinking skills by exploring a question over the course of their spring semester. Students ask an essential question and then base the answer to that question on three smaller questions, which propel their research. This semester, students explored a cure for blindness, why it’s important to go outside, food-related questions, video game creation, positive and negative effects of dance, how plants are natural air filters, why summer is the best season and what it takes to become a musician. Way to go, seventh graders!
Middle School Students Study the Book of Esther
Students in sixth and seventh grade cemented what they learned about the study of Esther in discipleship by dramatizing various aspects of the Hebrew story.
8th Graders Invite Guests to Teach about How They Hear from God
Every year, the eighth graders get to select an individual in their life who they think has a close relationship with God and hears from Him consistently. Then, those individuals come to speak to the 8th grade Life Skills & Discipleship class to share about the ways they’ve learned to hear God’s voice.
5th Graders Write and Read Self-Published Books, Learn about Germany and Brandenburg Gate
Fifth graders have been busy learning the publishing process from start to finish. The process moves from drafting to editing, peer review, making final edits, sourcing illustrations, writing biographical information about themselves (the authors!) and, finally, getting their books into print. And then, they read their self-published books to the first graders. And that’s just writing! They also studied Germany and its Brandenburg Gate in Berlin and learned how to measure angles in math.
Buddies Help K/1 Students Practice Reading, Make Mother’s Day Crafts
Our seventh grade Buddies to the kindergarten and first graders have really enjoyed getting to know their younger peers. The last few weeks have been full as they helped their K/1 friends practice reading and make special Mother’s Day crafts.
2nd Grade: Massachusetts, Multiplication BINGO, and Outdoor Spelling Games
Second graders are covering all their bases by playing spelling games out on the playground, multiplication BINGO in the classroom and presenting their findings on Massachusetts to other classes. What fun ways to review!
Teacher Appreciation Week Brings Encouragement to a New Level
Our teachers felt loved and appreciated all week long with special gifts from their students and a breakfast held in their honor. Some parents sent in messages to their teachers, and many students gave their teachers encouraging words as well. What a fun week to show how much we love the teaching staff at Learnwell!
Learning about Robots & Chernobyl
K-5th grade students have been learning about Chernobyl, turbines and designing robots in social studies over the last few weeks.
Students Splash into Field Day 2025
Field Day was a huge hit this year; students enjoyed a few new relays, which included hippity hoppity ball races and a dunk tank. Thanks to all the volunteers and our event coordinator for planning such a fun family event.
John 15:1-5 Object Lesson Combines Gardening & Bible Truth
Mrs. Hillary, our parent garden coordinator, came to teach students about the principles of John 15:1-5 alongside Mrs. Cori; together, they taught that even the smallest seed, when given the proper nutrients, will thrive. Much like John 15:1-5, students thrive when they remain close to the source of all their strength, Jesus.
