“If you must look back, do so forgivingly. If you must look forward, do so prayerfully. However, the wisest thing you can do is be present in the present…Gratefully.” – Maya Angelou

Fourth Graders Team Up for Cooperative Learning
Students in Ms. Robertson’s class team up for foundational concepts (and fun!) like messy spelling, multiplication with friends, growth mindset/problem-solving tower building, Bible discovery, geography and grammar review.

Fifth Graders Work on Drafting, Team-Building and Fractions
Tuesdays in Mrs. Cori’s class are drafting days. Students bring in cozy blankets, special pillows, or mugs for tea. Then, they spread out across the classroom, build forts, sit on beanbag chairs, and get to work as young writers. They also recently took the learning outside for cooperative problem-solving by building towers together and reviewing fractions.

Discipleship in K-5th Helps Students Understand Community
In discipleship last week, students learned about how Jesus’ death and resurrection made a way for our adoption as sons and daughters into the family of God. Students are working to create a collective portrait in the cafeteria to reflect the family aspect of God’s people. They also learned about the meaning of faith, according to Hebrews 11:1.

Seventh Graders Study the Book of Ruth
Our Life Skills & Discipleship class in seventh grade has been studying the book of Ruth. They’re acting out different parts of it for classmates, which is always a creative interpretation.

Middle School Students Learn About Vietnamese Culture & History
Our middle school students heard from Mr. Long Hoang Le last week as he shared his story as a childhood refugee from Vietnam. He also shared how the country has grown and changed over the years, and what the geographical and cultural landscape is like today. Students learned about the three distinct regions of Vietnam, why yellow is significant to the country’s history, and why Vietnamese people first introduce themselves with their surname. This was part of the students’ study of the Vietnam War in World History. We’re so grateful for special guests who enrich our students’ understanding.
