Week 29: The Joyful Pursuit

Play gives children a chance to practice what they are learning. ”

Sight Word BINGO with Friends

Playing BINGO is a fun way to remember sight words–and even better is to play it with 7th-grade Buddies!

Outdoor Classrooms? Yes, Please!

With spring in the air, teachers and students are enjoying the beautiful weather. So, why not take school outside?! Fifth graders continued the novel they were reading (“Soup” by Robert Newton Peck) in Mrs. Cori’s class, and third graders worked on math together in the sunshine.

The Playground Is Calling

Students may have gotten a little extra recess right before Spring Break (shhh…).

Students in Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade Eat Rainbows

Eating a rainbow of colors is good for you and delicious! That’s what our K-2nd graders learned during science recently. A variety of colored foods means you’re building strong bones, muscles and brains, so they made fruit and vegetable kebobs.

Water Is Basic Trackers Are Ready

Before the students headed out for Spring Break, a colorful Water Is Basic donation tracker made its appearance in the elementary school wing of the school. As elementary school students share when friends and family make donations to the Walk for Water, they get to post a water sticker into the bucket in the hallway. Send your students in with a Post-it or an index card every time they receive a donation, and they’ll get to “fill the bucket” with donations for South Sudan well repair. Find out more and donate to the students’ Walk for Water fundraiser here. We’ll see you after Spring Break, ready to walk for water on April 17th!

K-5th Discipleship Class Plays Bible Review Game

Ms. Robertson led students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade in a review game to get a “big picture” view of how the Bible is organized. She compared it to the puzzle on the back wall of the cafeteria, recognizing that all the pieces fit together to tell one story: the hope of Christ.

First Graders Learn All About the StoryLab at Learnwell

The StoryLab is a place where, well, students tell stories. Teachers highlight what students are doing in class in elementary school, and our middle and high school students work in front of and behind the camera to share the overall stories of life at Learnwell. Through the StoryLab internship program, high school students have the opportunity to help concept, shoot, and edit Learnwell videos that are used on our website, social media, and more. First graders recently got to explore what the StoryLab is all about. It looks like they had a great time!
