Week 11: Storytellers

“There’s always room for a story that can transport people to another place.” ~ J.K. Rowling

StoryLab Stories & Storytellers

Our StoryLab assistants jumped in this week as several classes filmed in the lab. Second, third and fifth graders spent time in the lab this week. Students shared their stories and poetry in front of the camera and got comfortable with phrases like, “Ready, camera one?” and “Slate!” Way to go, students!

Students in Mrs. Jessica’s 2nd-grade class were complete professionals in the StoryLab.
Mrs. Cori’s 5th-graders memorized and recited creative fiction and nonfiction stories for the camera.
The 8th-grade StoryLab assistants are learning about camera work, lighting, and cueing the talent under the direction of Todd Miechiels and Stephanie Barrett (not shown).

Grammar & Geography Games

Fifth graders reviewed grammar together in a small group, and the fourth and fifth graders participated in a Geography Bowl.

First Graders Enjoyed Outside Fun and Fall-Themed Learning

First graders read with their 7th-grade Buddies, enjoying some extra playground time, and celebrated the season with pumpkin activities, candy corn math facts, and a visit to Scottsdale Farms with friends from kindergarten, second and third grade.

8th & 10th Graders Learn Bible Foundations in Life Skills and Discipleship

The 8th graders worked in groups to study Luke’s parables; the 10th graders worked on an activity centered on their Life Skills & Discipleship class’s study of the Messiah in the Hebrew Testament.

Fourth Graders Farewell Weak Verbs in Funeral for Said/Say & Go/Went

K-5th Graders Learn About God-With-Us Origin Story

Learning about how God walked with Adam and Eve in the garden is foundational to understanding how much God loves His creation (us!) and wants to be with them. Students got to experience the building of several different kinds of tents as they learned about God’s presence in various ways: in the garden, in the tent of meeting and God-with-us through Jesus, Immanuel.

All About Southeastern United States in K-3rd

Our kindergarten through third-grade parents have signed up to teach students what makes each region of the U.S. special. This unit focused on the southeastern states, and parent volunteers came in to teach about Kentucky and Mississippi. Thank you, parents!
