Week 9: Celebrations

“I try to see every day as a celebration.” ~ Maya Angelou

Kindness Wins Ice Cream Party

The fourth grade class gets to add pom poms to a jar anytime one of the students does something or says something kind to another classmate. When the class jar gets filled up, they vote on what reward they want to enjoy together. Ms. Robertson said it’s a way she can teach students that their actions impact one another and they can choose to serve and be kind, helping the whole class honor biblical values. They celebrated with an ice cream party for filling the class jar for the first time this year. Way to go, students!

Fall Fun Abounds (2nd Grade, 7th Grade, and High School)

Second graders celebrated fall with a class pumpkin while seventh graders met for a fall fun day at Uncle Schuck’s Pumpkin Patch. High schoolers enjoyed catching up around a fire and pumpkin painting.

2nd Grade Class Pumpkin

Many of the seventh graders enjoyed an afternoon of fall-themed activities, including a corn maze!

Students Balance Hard Work with Fun & Games

Students in multiple grades balance hard work with fun and games. Here, they’re working hard on centers in kindergarten, math facts in first grade, writing in fourth grade, and math in fifth grade. Students also get time to hang out between classes, get fresh air (middle and high schoolers) and play on the playground (K-5th grade).

AP World History Students Celebrated Finishing Geography Maps

A job well done is definitely worth celebrating, and these maps are fabulous. AP World History students, you should be so proud! (One of the maps is even a cake! So, of course, they celebrated by eating it.) 🙂

Celebrating Compost Winners: 5th Grade

The fifth grade class was our compost contest winner! They collected 21.3 lbs of food scraps for the school garden compost! They beat their 10-pound goal and celebrated with a popcorn party. Next, Ms. Jessica’s fourth grade class will be collecting food scraps. They took a vote to set their collection goal to 16 lbs by Halloween. You can do it, fourth grade! And way to go, 5th graders!

K/1st and 7th Grade Buddies Celebrated the Completion of a Group Art Project

The Buddies teamed up to complete an art project they’ve been working on for the last couple of weeks. You can see it hanging in the lobby the next time you’re at school.

Students from seventh grade, first grade and kindergarten stand in front of their collaborative art project, alongside K, 1st and 7th grade teachers, Ms. Janeen, Mrs. Kayla and Mrs. Hyland.

Students in K-3rd Share Past, Present, Future Projects

Students in K-3rd grade learned about the past, present, and future of all sorts of things – cars, houses, etc.- and then imagined what the future would be like and presented projects.

K-5 Discipleship Students Learn Only God Creates Out of Nothing

In their discipleship time, K-5th graders learned that only God can create something from nothing. They were given an assortment of supplies to create all sorts of things: animals, buildings, whatever their imaginations could dream up. But then, the supplies were taken away, and students were tasked with creating something out of nothing. Could they do it? No, because they learned that only our Creator God can make something out of nothing.

Second Graders Write Sensory Poems Using Taste & See

Learning about sensory writing is fun when second graders get to taste and see what’s in the world around them through different perspectives.
