9th Grade Discipleship EOY Projects

For their end-of-year projects in Discipleship, 9th graders were tasked with creating a bulletin board or table display about God’s unconditional love for us and our identities as His beloved children. The displays had to be presented to an audience of either middle school students or elementary school students, have an interactive component to it, include two teachings of Jesus and Scripture from the Old Testament, and incorporate the ninth graders’ reflections on what they learned from the project. The students did a wonderful job. Two presented a bulletin board display of the globe and invited middle school students to write something that characterized a gift God had given them on a cut-out hand. Middle school students then placed all the hands on the globe. Two additional students presented the world as going from dark to light, reflecting that’s what happens when a person gives their life to Christ. They told elementary school students about how Jesus guides us even when we can’t “see” the path ahead of us because He loves us and we can trust Him. Way to go, students!

Outdoor Learning and Spelling Bee in K-5th

Because the power was out, many of our K-5th grade classes spent part of the morning outside on Tuesday. They participated in discipleship activities, first graders presented and played their hand-crafted math games, and more. On Thursday, everyone in K-5th took part in a Spelling Bee. Congrats to all the winners!

6th/7th Grade Buddies Making Friendship Bracelets

Celebrating the friendships they’ve forged this school year, the 6th and 7th graders made friendship bracelets with and for their kindergarten and first-grade buddies.

Robotics Fun

Some families gathered for an interest meeting this week to participate in the robotics camp and next year’s robotics elective. Students got to try out some of the robot models they can build.

9th Graders Visit SCAD Atlanta

Ninth graders visited the Atlanta campus of Savannah College of Art and Design last Friday and learned about the arts-related degree programs they offer: industrial design, fashion design or marketing, writing, photography, and film and television production to name a few.

Yearbook Signing

Students enjoyed trading yearbooks and signing them for each other.

7th Graders Participate in a Math Choice Board & Book Awards

Mrs. Green allowed pre-algebra students to decide which math activities they wanted to do by using a choice board. In Mrs. Hyland’s class, they voted and gave awards to the novels they read this year.

4th/5th Grade Career Presentations

To finish up their study of safe internet usage and trustworthy research, the fourth and fifth graders presented their career presentations this week.

Awards in Mrs. Hyland’s Discipleship Class

To round out the discipleship class for sixth and seventh graders, they made Kintsugi coasters displaying God’s ability to make all things new and repair the broken relationships with His people. Mrs. Hyland awarded each student with a characteristic of God that she sees in them. Then, they gave her an award for putting so much time and intention into their discipleship class. Her award? Encouragement and hugs!

6th Grade Business Project Presentations

Over the last six weeks, sixth graders have been working on a business project where they had to design their own business, configure supply costs, profit margin and who their ideal customers would be. The businesses they designed were so creative, and many of them coordinated well with other students’ businesses.

End-of-Year Party Time!

Every class had a party at the end of the school day to celebrate the beginning of summer. From pizza parties and pool-themed parties to campouts and secret agent scavenger hunts, students had a blast ushering in the last day of the school year. Have a safe, fun summer, everyone!
