Week 14: Clubs and Christmas Fun

Christmas Games and Devotionals

We read recently that author Ruth Chou Simons said, “Joy is a greater motivator than obligation,” and we agree! Students had such fun hearing about biblical truth and getting to play a fun jingle bell game together on Tuesday.

The winning team shows off their spoil: Oreos!

Club Day #3 Was a Huge Hit!

It was a split decision for Club Day #3: recess or art? The weather was just right for outdoor clubs. First, one student led an outdoor recess club with obstacle courses and games at rotating stations. Second, another student led an art club. We congratulate all our club leaders this semester. You have done a fabulous job!

Some students chose to learn how to draw and paint a winter scene at the art club.

How Learnwell Teachers Celebrate Christmas

We polled our Learnwell staff and teachers to find out about their Christmas traditions, and they gave us so many good ideas! Our hope is that the holiday season brings you refreshment, reminders of God’s great love, and time together as a family.

Laura shared that she loves to read the Jesus Storybook Bible with her kids and hang a daily ornament on the tree that coordinates with the Bible reading each day.

Leslie said she and her family love to serve at a memory care home singing Christmas carols and handing out candy canes.

Charlene loves to fill the house with candles and string Christmas lights because it reminds her that Jesus is the Light of the World.

Cori enjoys baking with her two daughters from a cookbook devotional called Bake Through the Bible: Christmas. It combines the joy of baking with truths that relate to the joy of Christ, who is Immanuel — God with us.

Melissa lights a nightly candle on an Advent wreath with her family as they reflect on the coming of Christ.

Jenny enjoys filling 25 tiny stockings with small gifts to help her children celebrate the season.

Allison and her family celebrate with Christmas lights, holiday movies, and chili with Grandpa.

Brooke and her family enjoy looking at Christmas lights, discovering “Elfred” the mischievous elf each morning, and reading from Ann Voskamp’s Unwrapping the Greatest Gift: A Family Celebration of Christmas.
